Swiss multi-actor workshop

On November 29, 2024, the legumES project took part in the “Protein Power” conference at Strickhof in Lindau, Switzerland, transforming a bustling event into a hands-on space for stakeholder engagement. With over 100 attendees from farming, research, the food industry, and the wider public, the workshop featured a dynamic market stand format where discussions sprouted around the ecosystem services of legumes.

Participants explored how legumes contribute to biodiversity, soil fertility, and sustainable food systems. Through an online survey and a participatory SWOT analysis, the workshop captured both the promise and the complexity of boosting the value of legumes—from labeling challenges to policy incentives and shifting consumer awareness.

The event underlined one clear message: legumes offer more than just protein—they’re key players in building a resilient, eco-friendly future. And with continued collaboration, Switzerland is sowing the seeds for that transformation.
